Leola Welker Davis, 95, of Ammon, passed away February 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born July 20, 1917, in Salem, Idaho, to Samuel Sylvester Welker and Sophronia Ricks Welker. She attended school in Sugar City, graduating from the 8th grade.
On February 21, 1937, she married Ira Clark Davis in Rexburg, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 5, 1965. They lived throughout Idaho while working various jobs.
Leola was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She made her children’s clothing, cooked for the hired men, kept a garden and grape arbor, and made beautiful paper roses and jewelry out of bread dough clay. She also helped start a library, read to the residents at local nursing homes, taught crafts, and wrote poems. At the age of 64, she and her husband bought the Meppen farm, where they raised gardens, cared for bum calves and raised registered Morgans. Upon retirement, they moved to Idaho Falls.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Sunday School and Youth Organizations, sang in the choir, and occasionally played the piano.
