Leo Waters

Leo Seth Waters, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 12, 2013, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living Center of causes incident to age. Leo was born June 9, 1915, in Ammon, Idaho, to Seth Gates Waters and Frances Ethel Crow Waters. He spent his early years in Ammon and graduated from Ammon High School. He then served a telegraphy apprenticeship for two years. On July 14, 1934, he married Elva Wanda McCurdy in Iona, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Leo worked as a Section Hand, Telegrapher and Agent for Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in 1975 after 41 years of service. He then worked as manager of the Coca Cola Bottling Plant for three and a half years. Wanda passed away May 22, 2009. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served as Bishop and Bishop’s Counselor in Menan, as Bishop of the Blackfoot 3rd Ward, and High Councilman in two stakes in Idaho and two stakes in Logan, Utah. He served as an officiator and sealer in the Logan LDS Temple. Leo enjoyed woodworking, gardening and yard work, and attending the temple regularly. Leo is survived by Son, Teddy Mac Waters of Henderson, NV, Son, Kenneth (Elissa) Waters of Sun Lakes, AZ, Son, Richard Wesley Waters of Rigby, ID; Son, Daniel Floyd (Susan) Waters of Midvale, UT, Daughter, Beverly Marilyn (Harold) Good of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, Max D. (Anna) Waters of Blackfoot, ID, Brother, Derrald J. (Margie) Waters of Blackfoot, ID; Sister, Velma Mitchell of St. George, UT; 29 grandchildren, 86 great grandchildren, and 73 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Gaylan J Waters and David L. Waters, two sisters, three brothers, and two grandchildren, Gregory Good and Elyse Waters. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Basalt Cemetery.
