LEO "BLACKIE" JEANNOTTE IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Our Dear Dad, Leo "Blackie" Jeannotte, 79, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 17, 2007 at his home, of a broken heart following the loss of his beloved wife, Julia Mary, 2 1/2 months ago. He was surrounded by his children and family members at the time of his death. He was born January 7, 1928, at Rolette County, North Dakota, to David Soloman Jeannotte and Edna Marie Granbois Jeannotte. He grew up and attended schools in Belcourt, North Dakota on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation. He was a member of Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians. He later earned his welding certificate. During World War II he was stationed in Okinawa while serving with the 316th Bomber Wing in the U. S. Army Air Corp. He also lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Van Port, Oregon, before settling in Idaho Falls. On August 19, 1945, he married the love of his life, Julia Mary Bundte, in Idaho Falls. He worked as a sheet metal welder, retiring in 1990 from Reliance Metals. He was a member of the steelworkers and sheet metal workers unions. Fish trembled at the mention of his name. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved the outdoors, spending time with his family, and playing his guitar with family and friends. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Blackie was a very generous person and consistently donated blood for many, many years. Survivors include: Son: Paul (Irene) Jeannotte, Ammon, ID Son: Robert (Dianne) Jeannotte, Las Vegas, NV Daughter: Rose (Jess) Wall, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Lorri (Mike) Miller, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Raymond Jeannotte, Beaverton, OR Sister: Rita (Lyman) Curtis, Idaho Falls, ID 19 Grandchildren and 33 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 1/2 years; a son, Michael; and a sister, Martha Heidecker. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2007, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, with Chaplain Roger Manwiller of Hospice of Eastern Idaho officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday for one hour prior to the services, both at Wood Funeral Home Military Rites will be performed at the funeral home by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. Cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
