Laird LeMoyne Johnston, Jr, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 19, 2017, at his home. LeMoyne was born August 13, 1932, in Aberdeen, Idaho, to Laird LeMoyne Johnston and Vera Jane Warner Johnston. He grew up and attended schools in Aberdeen and Idaho Falls. At age 17, during the Korean War, LeMoyne enlisted in the United States Army. He served as a Corporal in the 2nd Infantry Division where he became proficient as a field radio operator. On April 9, 1951, LeMoyne was seriously wounded by several mortar rounds which led to a Purple Heart and Honorable Discharge. On February 21, 1953, he married Barbara Ann "Bobbi" Stewart at her grandparents’ home in Upper Presto, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on July 6, 1965. To this union were born five children, Robert, Kathryn, Larry, Jon, and Bryan. LeMoyne and Bobbi made their home in Ammon and Idaho Falls where he worked as Parts Manager for Stoddard Ford and later as a U.S. Postal Clerk. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he enjoyed serving in many capacities. He loved his horses, his grandchildren, his 7 acres of land, the United States of America and it’s flag. LeMoyne is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Barbara Johnston of Idaho Falls; son, Robert LeMoyne (Sheri) Johnston of Ammon, ID; daughter, Kathryn Ann (Travis) Johnson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Larry Roland (Jana) Johnston of Ammon, ID; son, Jon David (Jeri) Johnston of Grant, ID; son, Bryan Lee (Sharlyn) Johnston of Garfield, ID; sister, Betty Welch of American Falls, ID; sister, Floretta Howell of Pocatello, ID; sister-in-law, Verlee (Jake) Norris of Fayetteville, AR; sister-in-law, Mary Kresse of Sunnyside, WA; brother-in-law, Remes (Shirlene) Stewart, Idaho Falls, ID; sister-in-law, Jeanette (Don) Luce of Shelley, ID; sister-in-law, Rose (Gary) Tyger of Shelley, ID; 27 grandchildren and 28 1/2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laird and Vera Johnston; sisters, Marie Nash, Evelyn Park and Marjorie Johnston. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the Ammon LDS 8th Ward, 2055 S. Ammon Road, with Bishop Marshall Riggs officiating. The family will visit with friends and family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.

Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
