Lelia Mason

Lelia Christiansen Mason, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away on June 13, 2011, at her home. She was born June 7, 1927, at Downey, Idaho, to Albert Hans Christiansen and Eliza Casper Christiansen. The family moved to Boise, where she attended Boise High School. They moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She continued her education by attending Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where she met the love of her life. On August 9, 1949, she married Sterling Lane Mason in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Chicago for only one year before moving back to her beloved Idaho and settling in Idaho Falls, where she lived for 61 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Lelia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Lelia served with Sterling for two years in the Alabama Birmingham Mission, in many Relief Society presidencies, and in the church extraction program. Perhaps one of her favorite assignments was the Special Needs Primary. Lelia enjoyed knitting, gardening, painting, handiwork, and all kinds of needlework. She was a talented cook and loved experimenting with recipes. But foremost in her life was always love and service to her family. Each of her children felt they were her favorite and she was their most boisterous fan. Survivors are: Husband: Sterling Mason, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Madelaine Mason (Dean) Nyffeler, Price, UT Son: Kimball W. (Kristine) Mason, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Elizabeth Mason (John) Wright, Pocatello, ID Son: Paul Christopher (Laura) Mason, Idaho Falls, ID Son: Joseph Byron (Colleen) Mason, Nampa, ID Son: Thomas Albert (Jennifer) Mason, Los Alamos, NM Brother: Charles Christiansen, Idaho Falls, ID 29 Grandchildren and 31 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Milton and Wesley Christiansen; and two grandsons, Jesse and David Wright. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS Mountain View Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Gene Reese, First Counselor in the Mountain View Ward Bishopric, officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
