Leland Ray McLing, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 12, 2025, at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Pocatello.

Ray was born August 22, 1938, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Joseph Leland McLing and Winnie Blanche Horkley. He grew up and attended schools in Salmon, Ucon, and Idaho Falls.

On December 11, 1987, he married Leonor Castro in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ray and Leonor made their home in Idaho Falls where Ray worked as a bus driver for Greyhound Bus Lines.

He enjoyed fishing, being an auctioneer, being a small engine repair mechanic, going out to eat with his wife, and spending time with his family.

Ray proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956. He received an Honorable Discharge from active duty as an Airman Second Class in 1960.

Ray is survived by his wife, Leonor McLing of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Jessica (Roger) Cushman of Ammon, ID; son, Michael (Laureen) Gonzales of Natalia, TX; son, Mark (Teresa) Gonzales of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Leland (Tonya) McLing, Jr. of Edmond, OK; son, Greg McLing of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Jennifer (Jerry) McLing of Houston, TX; daughter, Leanne (Larry) Spruill of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, JoGina (David) Taylor; 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph McLing; mother, Winnie Davis; stepfather, D.L. Roy Davis; and sister, Jeanine Nelson.

A gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. Military Honors will be performed at 3:45 p.m. by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
