Leland James Alder, 9, of Iona, was set free from his body on April 23, 2018, at his home. He was under the care of Hands of Hope Hospice and his loving family. Leland was born June 21, 2008, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Cerene Allen and Benjamin Howland. He was adopted by William Joseph Alder and Alicia Nicolet Alder. At the time of his passing he was attending Summit Hills Elementary. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Leland loved listening to music, singing, laughing and being with people. Leland is survived by his parents, William Joseph Alder and Alicia Alder of Iona, ID; siblings, Lynnlee, Keeton, Kendrick, Tayvree Alder of Iona, ID; birth mom, Cerene (Darland) Allen, birth father, Benjamin Howland. He is also survived by many grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his uncle, Leland Jay Alder. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2018, at the Country Haven Ward, 5169 Denning Avenue, with Bishop Jason Cooper officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30- 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and Friday from 9-9:45 a.m. prior. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
