Leila Opie Chavis, 46, of Basalt, Idaho, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016, in her sleep at her home in Blythe, California. Leila was born August 17, 1969, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Johnie Romero Chavis and Leila Orabelle Chavis. She grew up and attended schools in Firth, Idaho. She loved being at all birthday and Christmas parties. She always had fun planning, decorating, and dressing up for different themed parties. She will be missed as a mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Leila is survived by her daughter, Lynn Hope (Ernie) Cruz, of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Douglas Ashé, of Farmington, NM; son, Nick (Cassidy) Ashé, of Farmington, NM; daughter, Amber Lords, of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Leroy (Elly) Chavis, of Pocatello, ID; sister, Opie (Phil) Sutherin, of Teton, ID; sister, Linda Morris, of Blythe, CA; grandchildren: Alacia, Jackson, Carter, and Kenadee Cruz; Roman Ashé; Brysin Burns; and Kassidy Ashé. She was preceded in death by her mother, Leila Orabelle Chavis; and her father, Johnie Romero Chavis. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Firth Cemetery.
