Leen Van Hulten Ii

Leendert "Leen" Peter Van Hulten II, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 26, 2017, at his home.

Leen was born September 5, 1962, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leendert Peter Van Hulten and Mary Lynn Williams Van Hulten. He grew up and attended schools in Woods Cross, Utah, and graduated from Woods Cross High School in 1981. Leen attended The Utah Police Academy and graduated second in his class in 1983.

On November 12, 1988, he married Barbara Ann Jones in Elko, Nevada. To this union were born two children; Arendina and Garek. Leen and Barbara made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where he was a Police Officer for The City of Idaho Falls. He was a Resource Officer at Skyline High School and Eagle Rock Junior High for more than five years and was also a Field Training Officer.

Leen attended Christ Community Church and enjoyed being in the outdoors where he could ride ATVs, shoot guns and hunt. He also enjoyed training dogs, making Dutch pancakes, lifting weights and spending time with his son, Garek, working on computers. Leen loved and had a strong passion for his family, friends and the community.

Leen is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Barbara "Barbie" Van Hulten of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Arendina LaVon (Donnie Maiers) Van Hulten of Ammon, ID; son, Garek Peter (Makaylah) Van Hulten of Idaho Falls, ID; father, Leendert Peter Van Hulten, Sr. of Woods Cross, UT; brother, Anthony "Tony" (Suzie) Van Hulten of Riverton, UT; sister, Julie (Chris) Roseborough of Tooele, UT; brother, Nathaniel (Karol) Van Hulten of Farmington, UT.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lynn Van Hulten, grandfather, Gerardus J. Van Hulten, grandmother, Arendina G Van Hulten, grandfather, Leonard A Williams, grandmother, Lily Juliet Williams. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Waterspings Church, 4250 South 25th East in Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations at any Idaho Central Credit Union under Leendert Van Hulten.
