Leanne "Dede" M. Cowley, 51, of Idaho Falls, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2013, at her home from injuries received in a house fire.
Dede was born May 31, 1962, in Castro Valley, California, to Carl E. Jorgensen and Elizabeth Asdell Jorgensen. After her parents were divorced she was adopted by Dale Cowley. She moved with her family to Boise, Idaho, where she attended elementary and junior high school. In 1980, she graduated from Borah High School.
She moved to Vancouver, Washington, in 1994, where she met her partner and best friend, Julie Tonn. She worked in retail and manufacturing most of her life.
Dede had a great love for animals and spent many hours volunteering at local animal shelters. She took great pride in babysitting and walking others dogs when they were gone. She was reunited at the Rainbow Bridge with Duncan and Willie. She took great comfort in the poem The Rainbow Bridge after Duncan passed away.
She had a passion for eBay and was very knowledgeable about buying, selling and trading collectibles. She had a huge marble collection that she bought and traded worldwide and loved to show off. She loved collecting all kinds of collectibles and never passed an antique shop without stopping.
Although Dede faced many life challenges, she will be remembered for her kind heart, kindness towards others and her desire to help those in need.
She is survived by her
Father: Dale N. Cowley of Emmett, ID;
Brother: Edward (Ed) Cowley of Boise, ID;
Sister: Dianne (Eddy) Brasley of Gresham, OR, and
Sister: Annette Cowley of Idaho Falls, ID.
Nephews: Jeffery Brasley, Jay Joel and Justin Cowley, Torie Cowley.
Nieces: Nicole Harper and Shay Cardona.
Julie’s children: Joe (Jeffery) Tonn, Amy (David) Armstrong and Jeff (Tammy) Tonn,
and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
She was preceeded in death by her partner, Julie Tonn, her mother, Elizabeth A. (Betty) Cowley and grandparents, David and Lena Asdell, Anton and Elna Jorgensen, and Norman and Grace Cowley.
A Memorial Service to Celebrate Dede’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12, 2013, at the Idaho Falls Church of the Nazarene, 1900 Grandview Drive, Idaho Falls. The family will meet with family and friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. Thursday until the time of services, at the church.
