Lawrence Albert Bovee

Lawrence "Larry" Albert Bovee, 86, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away peacefully at his home on October 18, 2026.

Larry was born on May 29, 1940, in Salida, Colorado, to Elmer and Marian Bovee. He grew up with his brother, Les.

Larry lived a full and adventurous life. When he was young, he worked on ranches, broke horses, and became a professional boxer. He also served six years in the United States Marine Corps, including four years in Vietnam. Later, he worked for Quest for 25 years.

Everyone who knew Larry knew how much he loved telling stories. He seemed to have a story for almost everything and everyone. A person, place, or experience would remind him of something, and he would begin telling the story. Even if someone had heard it before, they might hear it again. Storytelling was a big part of who Larry was, and those who knew him will miss it deeply.

Larry had three children. Clint and Carol Bovee were born during his first marriage. He later married Paula Bovee, and they had a daughter, Deborah. Paula preceded him in death. Larry's third marriage was to Elsie Johnson Thorpe.

Larry lost his eyesight about ten years ago, and Elsie became his eyes. She helped him with the daily challenges of blindness while making sure his life was not defined by them. With Elsie by his side, Larry continued to go out, enjoy new experiences, and share many more adventures. She cared for him throughout those years, and together they built a life that went far beyond the difficulties they faced.

In 2020, Larry and Elsie moved to Idaho Falls to be closer to Elsie's family and their dear friends, Dawn Cleverly and her family.

Larry had always been a man of faith. In recent years, he developed a deep love for studying the Bible and became one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Larry is survived by his wife, Elsie; children, Clint Bovee and Deborah DelaBruere; grandchildren, Clinton, Jenny, Gregory, Robert, Elizabeth, Charles Bovee, and Scott Helm (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Declan, Gwen, and Maddie; brother, Les Bovee; and dear cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his second wife, Paula Bovee and his granddaughter, Alyssa DelaBruere.

Those who knew Larry will carry their own memories of him-and probably a few of his stories they can still tell. He gave them plenty to remember.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1480 Jefferson Avenue, with Russ Goyan, officiating.
