LaVern Josephine Wardle-Sides, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 4, 2011 at Lincoln Court Retirement Community.
LaVern was born December 4, 1923 in Idaho Falls to Raymond James Wardle and Josephine Meacham Wardle. She grew up in the Burley and Paul, ID areas and attended schools there.
On June 3, 1939, she married Donald Delbert Sides in Rupert, Idaho. Together they raised three children. Donald passed away December 18, 2004.
LaVern worked as a mother and a homemaker, as well as in the food service industry. One of her most enjoyable jobs was working at her family’s business, Heyrend Produce.
LaVern was always helping people, even after she lost her sight. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and was always there for her family. She enjoyed taking trips, camping, attending the Eastern Idaho State Fair, and going to the park with her family. LaVern loved to paint with her oldest daughter Darla. She loved spending time with her family and staying active

Daughter: Darla (DeLaine) Heyrend of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son: Darold Donald Sides of Idaho Falls, ID;
Daughter: Debra “Debbie” (Larry) Moore of Idaho Falls, ID;
Sister: Utahna Pelton of Burley, ID;
8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, two sisters, one great granddaughter, and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2011 at Wood Funeral Home (273 North Ridge Avenue). The family will visit with friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at Wood’s. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
