LAVERD W. HAMMOND IDAHO FALLS, ID -- LaVerd Whitehead Hammond, 88, of Idaho Falls, died November 14, 2006, at the Idaho Falls Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born February 15, 1918, at St. George, Utah to William Arthur Whitehead and Clara Myrtle Watson Whitehead. She grew up and attended schools in the area. Following high school, she attended Dixie College and then Utah State University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Clothing and Textiles. On December 26, 1941, she married Owen Holt Hammond in the St. George LDS Temple. In 1948 they moved to Idaho Falls. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LaVerd was a loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and music. She had also served as President of the Idaho Falls Music Club. Survivors include: Daughter: Pat (Lynn) Harker, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Paula (Jeff) Krantz, Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Bill Whitehead, UT Sister: Melissa Whitehead, UT Sister: Pat Cobia, UT Sister: Mona Rae Nielsen, UT 10 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen; a son, Richard; three brothers; and a sister. Private Family Services will be held Saturday.
