LaVENDA MCMURTREY IDAHO FALLS, ID -- LaVenda Fox Nelson McMurtrey, of Idaho Falls, died December 16, 2008, at Idaho Falls Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was 83 years old. She was born November 1, 1925, in a cabin by the old Swan Valley bridge in Swan Valley, Idaho, to David and Marietta Fox. She lived her life in the states of Idaho, California, Montana, and Wyoming. She attended school in the Idaho Falls area. She resided in the Idaho Falls area and Shoshoni, Wyoming, area for numerous years. She married Robert Thomas Nelson. They were later divorced. She married Robert Max McMurtrey. They were later divorced. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the VFW, DAV, and Eagle’s Ladies' Auxiliaries. She loved reading, needlepoint, teaching kids how to do things, and was a great cook. Survivors include: Son: Robert Alan Nelson, Shelley, ID Son: Michael Greg McMurtrey, Evanston, WY Daughter: Betty Jean McMurtrey Dodds, Mtn. Home, ID Brother: Dean Marvin Fox, Phoenix, AZ Brother: Charles Vernon Fox, Mtn. Home, ID Sister: LaVeda Fann, Idaho Falls, ID 16 Grandchildren; 27 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, three daughters, Linda Joyce Nelson Viers, Teri Lynn McMurtrey Fridline, and Kathy McMurtrey Schambers; a brother, Derl David Fox; and a sister, Vermont Fistoleria. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 19, 2008, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Wood Funearl Home. Additional Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008, at Davis Funeral Home, 2203 West Main Street, Riverton, Wyoming.
