Laurie Ann Browning, 51, was born July 10, 1963, in the Sacred Heart Hospital in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to William Paul Palica and Rita Nolene (Jensen) Palica. She passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 11:00 p.m. of natural causes in Jamestown, North Dakota.
She graduated from Bonneville High School in 1981. She attended and graduated from LDS Seminary and LDS Institute classes, and attended Ricks College (now Brigham Young University-Idaho) for five semesters, as well as Eastern Idaho Vocational College.
She married James Floyd Browning February 3, 1984, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She gave birth to Benjamin on September 16, 1985, Nathaniel on September 28, 1987, Samuel on October 7, 1988, Charlotte on October 2, 1993, and Matthew on May 14, 1995. She felt very strongly that she had other children waiting for her in the eternities as she had miscarried a couple of times. She had many friends all through her life and was always reaching out to and making new friends. She detested violence and was full of compassion. She sought righteousness and loved her many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A nearly lifelong member of the church, she enjoyed serving in many callings, especially in the Primary and doing missionary work. She was a wonderful teacher and was served well by her wonderful testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and the truthfulness of His restored gospel.
Laurie did not seek praise, she was a humble, loving lady. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including music, the piano, reading, studying history and the scriptures, photography, knitting, crocheting, flowers (her favorites were roses, California poppies, sunflowers, and purple pansies). She loved all animals and being in nature. She enjoyed many years of working in the bees with her husband and children in Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, California, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. She also enjoyed fishing with her husband and family, traveling, vacationing, and dining out with her husband. She and James had a passion for cooking together. Above all, she enjoyed just spending time with her family. Laurie would want to be remembered as a Daughter of her Heavenly Father and one who truly loved Jesus Christ and followed their teachings.
Laurie has always felt blessed by the accomplishments and decisions of her children. She would want Matthew to know how proud she is of his decision to remain on his Latter-day Saint Mission in Las Vegas, Nevada. She loves and awaits the time to be reunited with her husband, James, and their children.
Laurie is survived by her husband, James Floyd Browning, four sons, Benjamin Blair Browning, Nathaniel Floyd Browning, Samuel Johnathan Browning, Matthew Elias Browning; and daughter, Charlotte Anne Browning. Also by her father, William Paul Palica and two brothers, Dave Palica and Robert Palica; sister, Emily Whipple; half brother, William Paul Palica, Jr; aunt, Barbara Orr; uncle, Mark Spjute; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Nolene.
