Click Here To View Memorial Video Laurel Joyce Lee passed away January 15, 2014, at Morningstar Senior Living Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was under the care of Hearts For Hospice. Laurel was born December 31, 1924, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to David Arnold Haderlie and Mary Florence Price Haderlie. She was the youngest of six children, Dick Haderlie, Virginia Bitner, Beatrice Haderlie, Marjorie Ingram, and Jack Haderlie. After graduating from Idaho Falls High school, Laurel joined the Army Cadet Corps and began training to become a registered nurse at the Idaho Falls LDS Hospital. Because the war ended, she never had to serve active duty. However, her training served her well, because she either worked as a nurse at the hospital, did private duty and home health nursing, or was available to anyone who needed medical help. It was while working as a nurse that Laurel met and married her eternal sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Lee. They married on May 2, 1948, and were later sealed for time and eternity in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 12, 1965. They welcomed four daughters to their family, Vivian (Kelvin) Dallimore, Charissa (Mike) Hayes, Dixie (Richard) Peterson, and Leann (Stacey) Fredrickson. From a young age, Laurel enjoyed expressing herself creatively. In her youth she was an accomplished ballerina who once had the opportunity to perform for the governor. Later she learned to paint in both oil and watercolor mediums. She was a longtime member of the Bonneville Art Association, where she loved to get together with the other members weekly to paint. Laurel displayed her work in many art shows sponsored by the association. Laurel loved flowers. She took great pride in creating beautiful flowerbeds. Many of her paintings were of flowers she grew in her garden. More importantly Laurel was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was fiercely devoted to her family. She took pride in her daughters’ talents and accomplishments and made sacrifices to ensure they had the opportunity for a good education. She loved to attend any activity involving her grandchildren because they were her pride and joy. Each one knew they had their Grandma’s love and support. Laurel was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings over her lifetime. She is survived by her four daughters, eighteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2014, at the Iona 5th Ward, 7555 North 55th East (corner of Iona Road and Ririe Highway). The family will meet with friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
