Click Here To View Memorial Video Laura Shanks Hogan, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 31, 2015, at Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Community. She was under the care of her family and Hands of Hope Hospice. Laura was born October 15, 1944, in San Diego, California, to Harold Leo Shanks and Mary Elizabeth Matney Shanks. She grew up and attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. She also attended San Diego State University, where she earned her bachelor's degree with honors in 1992. On August 17, 1962, she married Owen LeRoy Hogan in Ririe, Idaho. To this union were born three children, Steve, Douglas, and Leslie. Laura and Owen made their home in Idaho Falls. Laura worked as a Recreational Therapist, at Town & Country Gardens and Lone Pine Nursery. She was a Master Gardener. LeRoy passed away August 15, 1969. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, camping, bird watching, hiking, and crafts. Laura is survived by son, Steven LeRoy (Jacki) Hogan of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Douglas Jay (Donette) Hogan of Ririe, ID, sister, Rosalie Bregante of San Diego, CA; brother, Norman Shanks of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Scarlett DeMatia of San Diego, CA; sister, Janell Nash of San Diego, CA; 5 grandchildren, Sasha, Andrew, Todd, Jessica, and Landon, and two great grandchildren, Kalea and Nakoa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Boyd Norris, and a daughter, Leslie Ann Hogan. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 3, 2015, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with Reverend Cathy Chisholm of First Presbyterian Church officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
