Launa Brown

Launa Sheraine Ruiz Brown, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 15, 2017, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Launa was born March 7, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Henry Franklin Ruiz and Periscilla Lydeen Schmidt Ruiz. She grew up and attended schools in the area and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.

On July 20, 1973, she married Lawrence Nelson Brown in Elko, Nevada. To this union were born two children, Sheri and Shane. Launa and Nelson were later divorced. Launa worked as a Production Operator at Basic American Foods for 35 years.

She enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with her family and friends. Launa was very close to her two children and was very active in their lives. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Launa is survived by son, Shane Henry Brown of Idaho Falls, ID; mother, Periscilla Lydeen Ruiz of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Laura (Earl) Jenkins of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Lisa Ruiz of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Rayce (Grace) Ruiz of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Rod (Lezlie) Ruiz of Idaho Falls, ID; and 2 granddaughters, Alexandria and Rylee.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Franklin Ruiz; daughter, Sheri Lynn Brown; and former husband, Lawrence Nelson Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 21, 2017, at Idaho Falls LDS 13th Ward, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Oliver Thuernagle officiating. The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge) and on Friday from 10-10:45 am prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
