BOUNTIFUL, UT -- LaTresa Marie Egan Imus, 46, of Bountiful, Utah, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away February 26, 2010 at her home.
LaTresa was born September 19, 1963 in Rigby, Idaho, to Virgil B. Egan and Ida LaRae Wages Egan. She was eagerly welcomed by a sister (LaHoma) and three brothers (Marshall, Robert and Gordon). She grew up on the family farm and was affectionately nicknamed “Teece”
She attended schools in the Ucon area and graduated from Bonneville High School in Idaho Falls. She continued her education in nursing, training at Eastern Idaho Technical College and worked at Riverview Hospital in Idaho Falls. After moving to Salt Lake City, Utah, she worked at the University of Utah Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital for 18 years. During this time, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Regis University. LaTresa loved her nursing career and many benefited from her specialized care. We are so proud of all that she accomplished.
On July 27, 2007, she married Austin Imus in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Bountiful which they shared with their dogs Maggie, Ahushe and Kona.
At the time of her death, she was working as a registered nurse at the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. She was also teaching a class at Westminster College and also attending to earn her Master’s Degree in nursing education. She would have graduated in May and recently received her Honor’s pin in Education.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LaTresa enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, target shooting, reading, painting, and traveling.
She and Austin traveled to several exotic locations. They also enjoyed spending time on their boat at Lake Powell.
Many of the family get-togethers were orchestrated by LaTresa. She loved having all of her family around and particularly doted on her nephews and nieces as if they were her own children. She became a mentor to them as they grew older. Her caring personality and wonderful sense of humor put everyone at ease. We are all better because of her influence in our lives. We love and miss our beloved “Treece.”

I had the good opportunity to work with Tresa for six years in SLC. She was a sweet compassionate person to the patients and the staff. Really, everyone who got to know her loved her, among them me. She had a wonderful sense of humor, she was spiritual and adventurous. She as a “cool girl” she loved mustangs. I will miss her dearly. I want to thank her family for giving her to us, to be with us, as long as she did. I’m honored to have known her and her goodness to others.

We are all so deeply saddened by Tresa's death. She was a wonderful instructor at Westminster College School of Nursing, and always a pleasure to visit with, both in and out of the class setting. Tresa would always take an extra look at a situation with her students, and work to help them experience and expand their view of their clinical setting. She was an active contributor and participant in our class faculty meetings. We will miss her so much. Our prayers are with you.

I had the pleasure of working and being friends with this earthly angel. She touched so many different lives in so many different ways. I will miss her smile and her caring ways. She had a great sense of humor and I don't believe she ever met a stranger. My heart goes out to those she has left behind, her husband, her family and a multitude of friends. She was such a blessing and touched us all in so many ways. She will never be forgotten and will stay in our hearts forever and we meet her again. May we take what she shared with us and continue passing it to those we come in contact with. We love you, Tresa.

I have known Tresa for the last two years, since she began her Master's Program in Nursing Education at Westminster College. She has learned so much, worked so hard, and has grown as an educator. She taught us all so much and it will be hard to get through to graduation without her with us. My deepest condolences to her family, friends, peers, and colleagues.

I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Tresa, how difficult it must be for you. I knew Tresa as a child having grown up in the community. She was the lively “Little Sister” who was fun to play with and tease. I have fond memories of her, and the greatest respect for the Egan Family. I hope that your memories sustain you in the future, providing you with a smile!
