Larry Elvin Smith, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 28, 2012 in Idaho Falls surrounded by his family.
Larry was born September 11, 1931 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Chester Everett Smith and Alma Marie Hunter. He attended and graduated from Ashton High School.
Larry served with the 116th Battalion in the Idaho Army National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
On November 12, 1953, he married Nina Dawn Richards in Ashton. Together they raised two children.
Larry worked as a machinist with the aerospace and food industries in research and development. Besides Idaho, he lived in Nevada and California. He retired in 1992.
Larry enjoyed restoring cars, toys, and miniature sewing machines.
Survivors include:
Wife: Nina Smith of Ammon, ID;
Daughter: Rhonda (Steve) Wike of El Dorado Hills, CA;
Son: Daniel Smith of Menan, ID;
and one granddaughter, Nichole (Joel) Peterson of Minneapolis, MN
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Ashton LDS 3rd Ward (1313 North 3600 East)with Bishop Gary Marsden officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ashton - Pineview Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
