Larry Rockwood

Larry Kent Rockwood, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 17, 2018, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community. He was under the care of his loving family and Encompass Home Health & Hospice. Larry was born August 29, 1930, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Warren Rushton Rockwood and Ethel Wadsworth McKibben Rockwood. He grew up and attended schools in Iona and graduated from Iona High School. On January 7, 1950, he married Venna Gifford in Iona, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 17, 1965. To this union were born four children, Linda, Sandra, Kent and Douglas. Larry and Venna made their home in Iona, Idaho, where Larry was a farmer. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He refereed ball games for high school and church ball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and camping. He loved playing sports and watching his children and grandchildren play sports as well. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, and spending time with friends. They often spent winters in St. George, Utah. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Venna Rockwood of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Linda (Jon) Robinson of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Sandra (Ray) Osburn of Elk Ridge, UT; son, Kent (Shellie) Rockwood of Iona, ID; son, Douglas (Ann) Rockwood of Iona, ID; brother, Dale (Sharon) Rockwood of Iona, ID; sister, Janice Johnstone of Anchorage, AK; sister, Sue Hollingshead of Provo, UT; 18 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Ethel Rockwood; and grandson, Larry Jay Robinson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Iona 1st Ward, 5169 E. Denning Avenue, with Bishop Randy Smith officiating. The family will visit with friends Friday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery.
