Larry George Peterson, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 31, 2026, at Eagle Rock Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia.
Larry was born September 14, 1945, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Joseph Evain Peterson and Ruth Fogg Peterson. He grew up and attended schools in Rexburg and graduated from Madison High School.
He married Deanna Park on March 5, 1966. They had six beautiful children together. He was a dedicated and hardworking floor covering installer with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality workmanship. He taught his two oldest sons the trade at a very young age, who continued with the trade for many years. He worked as a welder, helping build and maintain boilers at a power plant. He provided a wonderful life for his family. In 1995, he suffered a massive stroke that changed his life forever. Despite the challenges he faced in the years that followed, he remained positive, strong, and determined to make the most of each day. Larry and Deanna later divorced.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to travel and lived for family. He enjoyed hanging out with his brothers at North Highway Café.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Lori Dawn (DeLaine) Rydalch of Rexburg, ID; daughter, Jennifer Irene Park of Rigby, ID; son, Larry Daniel (Teresa) Peterson of Vancouver, WA; son, Brian (Lisa) Peterson of Smithfield, UT; daughter, Emily Anne Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Andrew Lee Peterson of Rigby, ID; brother, Roger (Wanda) Peterson of Rexburg, ID; brother, Robert (Mia) Peterson of Rexburg, ID; brother, Brent (Loretta) Peterson of Hurricane, UT; brother, Dean (Shirlene) Peterson of Rexburg, ID; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ruth Peterson; brothers, Gerold "Pete" Peterson, Ray Peterson, Kent Peterson, and David Peterson.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Sugar City Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-11 a.m. prior at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road in Ammon.
