Larry Barton Ingram passed away in his home on October 14, 2026, from congestive heart failure. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho and also family members.
Larry was born on March 24, 1949, to his parents Barton "Bart" Wallace and Nellie Bernice Shearer Ingram. He had an older sister Joyce, and then a younger sister, Carol. The family of five lived in a one bedroom home until 1956, when they moved to a new home in Ammon and a younger brother, David would complete the family. Summer vacations as a family included trips to Yellowstone Park, Canada, Glacier National Park, and numerous camping trips.
He attended Hawthorne, Iona, and Ammon Elementary Schools, at which time he learned to play the accordion. At Ammon Junior High his favorite activities were tumbling, volleyball, and craft classes. Freshman through Senior years were spent at Bonneville High School where he was a member of the Thespian Club, Bonnevaires Choir, and also attended 4 years of Seminary. He graduated in May 1968.
After graduation Larry worked for his dad at the Falls Printing Company until August at which time he received a mission call to serve in the North British Mission. He quickly fell in love with England; the people, the history, their royalty, the castles and cathedrals. He was able to baptize nine people.
After returning home he attended a semester at Rick's College. At a M-Men and Gleaner's dance he met the girl who would soon become his wife, Sherrie Bee. After a short engagement they were married on Febuary 2, 1973, and were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple in July of 1979. As a couple their hobbies included ceramics, wood working, gardening, fishing, camping and working on family history.
Larry's early job experiences were picking potatoes, usually with his sister Carol, working at his dad's print shop, and spraying trees for the forest service in Island Park. After marriage he was employed by several companies, including Albertsons, Holladay Office Supply, Ahlstrom's Furniture, Medical Mart, and the DOE at INEL.
After many years of waiting, Larry and Sherrie were able to adopt a new-born baby girl in September of 1993, whom they named Kelley Marie. It was a life long dream come true. Their life had new meaning and purpose. As a new family they continued their traditional Bear Lake trips, vacations in Yellowstone Park and southern Utah, camping and fishing, and even a trip to Chicago.
Larry was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had numerous callings. He served as a Sunday School teacher, counselor in the Elders' Quorum presidency, High Priest group leader, and the Boy Scout program for 12 years, receiving many awards for his outstanding service.
Several years after Sherrie's death in 2008, he moved in with his dad, who was now also a widower. Together they took care of each other, until his dad's passing in 2020. Although Larry's life was filled with many medical issues and trials, he continued to be grateful for his blessings. What a joy it was for him to tell people about his daughter, who is now a doctor. He also enjoyed keeping in touch with his extended family and doing activities with them. He was a good neighbor and looked for ways to serve them. He may have died from heart failure, but he had a big compassionate heart that was continually in service of others.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Kelley (Rodney Plummer); sister, Carol Dennett (Dennis) of Idaho Falls; and brother, David (Tammie) of Saratoga Springs, Utah; and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death are his wife, Sherrie; parents, Bart and Nellie Ingram; sister, Joyce Fife and her husband Allen; nephew, Jason Fife and his wife Jaime; niece Ashlee Dennett; nephew, Matthew Dennett; and great nephew, Adam Johnson.
