Larene Byram Bird, 86, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, passed away April 17, 2018, at her home.
Larene was born June 12, 1931, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Arley John Byram and Mary Ann Perrenoud Byram. She grew up and attended schools in Ucon and graduated from Ucon High School.
On September 21, 1949, she married Ray Bird in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. To this union were born five children: Sandra, Patty Jo, Larry, Gordon, and Raelene. Larene and Ray made their home in Idaho Falls, where Larene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including Relief Society President, Young Women’s Leader and as a Primary Leader. She also served two missions and served as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Larene enjoyed camping, cabin trips, spending time with her family, and being hostess for any activity. Her hobby was making china including making full sets for her daughters, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters.
Larene is survived by her loving husband, married for 68 years, Ray Bird of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sandra (Elmer) Cherry of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Patty Jo (Larry) Moore of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Larry (Janie) Bird of Boise, ID; son, Gordon (Julie) Bird of Boise, ID; daughter, Raelene (Jeff) Toulouse of Blackfoot, ID; sister, Colleen (Ivan) Cook of Hermiston, OR; sister, Mary Lou (Gerald) Jolley of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Jack (Barb) Byram of Roy, UT; 22 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Verna Gardner; brother, Dallas Byram; sister, June Byram; great grandson, Taylor Anderson; and great granddaughter, Shelby Anderson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Idaho Falls LDS Brentwood Ward, 2040 Brentwood Drive, with Bishop Grant Stone officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 -8:00 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be in the Milo Cemetery.
