Lane Shirley

It is with profound sadness and grief that we announce the passing of Lane Shirley, a beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend.

Lane was born in Dillon, Montana, grew up on a ranch in Norris, and graduated high school in Manhattan, Montana. His upbringing on a ranch shaped every fiber of his being. He was trusted, respected, hardworking, and ardently true to himself. The ranch and the people that shaped him remained apart of him always.

Lane proudly served his country as a Petty Officer Third Class in Navy Intelligence. His service was an important chapter in his life that exemplified his strength and dedication to the people around him. It is also how he ended up settling in Fallon, Nevada, with his first wife, Randi Shirley, and the mother of his children. Though they separated, they were an integral part of each other's life for a long time, shared years of joy and growth, and raised three wonderful children.

Lane was a devoted husband to Suzie Miller. Their time was cut deafeningly short, but it was filled with music, road trips, family, love, and cherished memories. Together, they built a wonderful few years of joy and shared passion for life. He will forever be found on the long stretches of countryside and rivers.

Lane was a loving father to Allison Paige Berg, Jake Henry Shirley, and Anna Elaine Shirley, and the proudest grandfather to Dallie Grace, Hunter Roy, Sawyer Maye, and Weston Hayes. If there is one thing to know about Lane, it is how fiercely he loved his grandchildren and watching them grow up into the wonderful little humans they are. They are all the best parts of him, and will continue to embody his loving, joyful spirit.

There are a million things to say about Lane; he was truly one of a kind. He was shaped by wide open spaces, and will remain defined by the people he loved. Forever a Montana cowboy off to join his other family in the heavenly hunting grounds.
