Kristi Thinnes

Kristi Jo Thinnes, 47, of Idaho Falls, passed away September 16, 2018, at her home in Idaho Falls. She was under the care of Encompass Hospice.

Kristi was born April 27, 1971, in Callaway, Nebraska, to Michael Dee Diefenbaugh and Judith Ann Yantzie Diefenbaugh. She grew up and attended schools in Merna, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska.

On May 18, 1996, she married Scott Michael Thinnes in Broken Bow, Nebraska. They had one daughter, Kaya. Kristi and Scott made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Kristi worked as a Branch Manager and Vice President for Westmark Credit Union.

She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sports, especially football, volleyball, and basketball. She especially enjoyed Kaya's sport activities at Idaho Falls High School.

Kristi is survived by her loving husband, Scott Michael Thinnes of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kaya Leeann Thinnes of Idaho Falls, ID; mother, Judith Diefenbaugh of Merna, NE; sister, Michelle (Marvin) Lane of Arcadia, NE; sister, Misti Ann Diefenbaugh of Merna, NE; brother, Kyle Dee (Kristy) Diefenbaugh of Elwood, NE; She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Diefenbaugh.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 28, 2018 at St. John Lutheran (290 7th Street).

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to City of Hope in Duarte, California, at cityofhope.org, specifically to brain cancer research.
