KOICHI "KAY" NII
AMMON, ID -- Koichi "Kay" Nii, 75, of Ammon, died March 29, 2002, at his home, of natural causes.
Kay was born July 11, 1926, at Ammon, the son of Ichimasa Nii and Itsu Kobayashi Nii. He grew up in Ammon and attended Ammon High School, then graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Kay served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He married Doris (Doddie) Ann Case in April, 1952, in Oregon and they were later divorced. He farmed at Pingree for many years before moving to Idaho Falls, where he began his career at the INEEL. He started work there as a janitor and retired as a Nuclear Engineer. His work took him out of the area and overseas when he spent six months working in France and a year in South Carolina.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He loved spending special time seeing after and "doing" for his grandkids. His children were his life and he would do anything for his grandchildren. Kay was an avid, accomplished, and artistic fly fisherman. He enjoyed tying flies, hunting, bowling, and handyman work. He could be found every morning sharing coffee with his friends. Kay spent many hours on the South Fork, fishing with close friends Tom Haga, Frank Ueda, and many other close friends.

Memorial Services will be at 11 a.m. a.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 237 North Water, with Reverend Thom Larsen officiating.
The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
