Kirk Prestwich

Click Here To View Memorial Video Kirk Melvin Prestwich, 54, of Idaho Falls, passed away on October 17, 2015, in North Dakota. Kirk was born in Idaho Falls on March 15, 1961 to Leo Verdell and Thora Gibbs Prestwich. He was the youngest of three children. His grade school years were spent at Longfellow Elementary, his class was the last 9th grade class to attend O.E. Bell Jr. High and he graduated from Skyline High School in 1979. He worked at Scotty's Drive Inn during high school and continued there until 1981. He worked several other jobs before starting at Bowen Petroleum in August of 1984 as a fuel delivery driver and continued in that profession with Thomas Petroleum and Berry Oil Company until July 2015, winning numerous safe driver awards. He was set to start a new job in Ray, ND when he passed away. He married Jamie Larna on December 27, 1990 at a family Christmas Party, becoming a stepfather to Jamie's children Aaron & Lindsey. In September 1992 their daughter, Kelsey was born. He learned how to play golf as a teen and loved to play miniature golf with his grandsons Jordan and Carson. He enjoyed camping at Heise and riding 4-wheelers in Kelly Canyon. He skied quite a bit when he was younger, but later in life had a harder time recovering from the "yard sales" when he crashed! He loved to watch football and continued to cheer for the Forty-Niners even during their bad seasons. He coached numerous youth indoor and outdoor soccer teams and was on the sidelines for many wrestling matches, baseball games and soccer games as his children were growing up. He is survived by his wife Jamie, his son Aaron Beal and granddaughter Jenna, his daughter Lindsey Robinson (Jake) and grandsons, Jordan & Carson, his daughter Kelsey Olsen (Curtis) and grandchildren Harleigh and Brantley and his granddaughter Nicole Clark, sister Ann Skinner (David) and brother Craig Prestwich (Sue) and their famlies. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Kooper. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Rose Hill Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his parents. The family will visit with friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 25th at Wood Funeral Home (273 N. Ridge Avenue). A family luncheon will follow at the LDS Church at 1660 12th Street.
