Kirk Brocksome

Kirk Wayne Brocksome, 66, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away January 10, 2011, at Idaho Falls Health & Rehab Center of cancer. Kirk was born July 2, 1944, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Howard Wayne Brocksome and Lillian Rose Brocksome. He grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1964. Kirk answered his country's call for military service and joined the U. S. Marine Corps in February, 1965. He pulled a tour of duty in South Vietnam during the height of the war and served as a Lance Corporal. After release from active duty, Kirk returned home to Idaho Falls. Kirk married Ada Verbeck in 1967 and the couple had one child, Camy. They divorced and he married Cherie Lynn Staley December 27, 1968, in Idaho Falls. Three children, Koin, Cameron, and Kit were born to this union. They were later divorced. Kirk was self employed for the most part, but held positions at Radio Shack and Sears. Kirk enjoyed hunting and fishing and was active with the local Disabled American Veterans Association. He also enjoyed gardening and later in life took great pleasure in building and maintaining his home. He will be missed. Kirk is survived by his daughter, Camy Brocksome; three sons, Kirk Koin Brocksome on active duty with the U. S. Navy, Cameron Jeff Brocksome of Idaho Falls, ID, and Kit Blue Brocksome of Idaho Falls, ID; two brothers, Howard Merl Brocksome of Idaho Falls, ID and Glenn Kemmer Harvey of Burbank, CA; two sisters, Robin Cherry Laine Strong of Tacoma, WA, and Shawna Lane Mattox of Pocatello, ID; and 5 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Brocksome and Lillian Harvey. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 17, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard. Click here to view a video of George's life
