Kirby Moedl Kinghorn

"The man, the myth, the legend”

Kirby Moedl Kinghorn passed away at age 64, in Idaho Falls on April 5, 2021. He passed away peacefully at his daughter, Brandee’s, house after a 6-year fight with cancer.

Kirby was born August 8, 1956, in Juneau, Alaska, to Dale Kinghorn and Margie Moedl Kinghorn. He was the oldest of five children.

Kirby was a brilliant man, charismatic, funny, extremely handsome, and loved by many. If you were ever lucky enough to cross paths with Kirby, you understand just how charming he truly was. He had been fighting cancer the past several years, and even with everything he was going through, he never let it slow him down or hold him back from doing what he wanted to do... riding his Harley to The Cancer Institute for chemo...and then going on a ride when he was done. Throughout it all, he managed to never lose his amazing sense of humor or the smile on his face. I doubt that anyone has had a conversation with him, that at some point he didn’t have them rolling on the floor laughing. He could make light of any of the worst situations…and make everything seem not so terrible just with his attitude towards life.

Kirby was a skilled marble mason, and very talented in many areas. He mastered everything he set his mind to. He loved riding one of his Harley Davidsons and taking his boat out on Lake Mead.

He is survived by his three daughters, Brittany Kinghorn of Idaho Falls, Brandee Kinghorn of Idaho Falls, and Victoria Kinghorn of Mesa, AZ; his ex-wife, Tonia of Idaho Falls; and his younger sisters, Kareen (Jim) Freeman of Idaho Falls, Kami Kinghorn of Idaho Falls, and Krystal Kinghorn of Idaho Falls; his grandkids, Mia Kinghorn of Idaho Falls, Stryder Kain Kinghorn of Idaho Falls, Sedona Leigh Kinghorn of Mesa, AZ, and James Bradley Stark IV of Mesa, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Kinghorn and Margie Kinghorn-Fereday; and his younger sister, Kolae Kinghorn.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
