Kernan Joseph “Kerry” Longua, Sr., 81, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 13, 2013, at The Gables of Ammon.
Kerry was born August 4, 1931, in Madison, Wisconsin, to Harold Ludwig Longua and Dolores Marion Kernan Longua. He grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, and graduated from Edgewood High School. He moved to Idaho Falls in 1958. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy and also attended the University of Idaho, where he earned his Master’s Degree.
On September 5, 1959, he married Janice Kirby in Reno, Nevada. Together they raised two children. Kerry served in the Navy during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife 53 years: Janice K. Longua of Idaho Falls;
Son: Kernan Joseph (Tamara) Longua of Idaho Falls, ID;
Son-in-law: Kent Lyman of Phoenix, AZ;
Grandson: Kernan James Longua of Idaho Falls, ID;
Grandson: Kevin Kerry Lyman of Costa Mesa, CA; and a
Brother: Ronald Longua of Madison, WI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Karen Jan Lyman.
A Gathering for family and friends will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 18, 2013, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. A private burial will be Saturday in Lincoln Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, a note of remembrance would be appreciated.
