Kenyon L. Wold

Kenyon L. Wold, 69, of Idaho Falls, passed away March 14, 2024, of Multiple Myeloma at Idaho Falls Community Hospital with his wife, Julie, holding his hand. Kenyon was born May 8, 1954, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Lamont W. Wold and Lois R. Stoltenberg Wold. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School in 1972,  he briefly attended the University of Idaho before becoming a full-time hitchhiker, living in Baton Rouge, Boston, and Groton, Connecticut, before returning to Idaho Falls. On May 1, 1982, he married Julie Marie Metcalf. Kenyon and Julie made their home in Idaho Falls. From their drafty farmhouse raising animals, to their home on 13th Street raising three animal children, Kenyon and Julie worked hard to provide a home and good life for their three kids. In 1988, Kenyon and Julie started their commercial refrigeration business Kenyon Refrigeration. Kenyon built connections with the eastern Idaho community and his charismatic nature and tireless work ethic built a strong business and developed lasting relationships. But despite what could only be described as a passionate love of his work, Kenyon actually preferred his time away from work. Always a dreamer, Kenyon was an avid reader, painter, photographer, and amateur chef. He traveled the world, journeying to Tanzania, Mexico, Spain, and the Netherlands. He fished the rivers of Alaska, rafted the rapids of the Grand Canyon, and braved the wilds of the Rocky Mountains on his many hikes. He was always most at peace in nature: camping, fishing, riding ATVs, whistling along with the local songbirds, whistling along to the song stuck in his head, or otherwise displaying his ability to treasure the natural wonders around him with his family and many friends. Kenyon is survived by his wife, Julie Wold of Idaho Falls, ID; sons, Nicholas Wold of Boise, ID, Joseph (Jordyn) Wold of Ucon, ID, and Samuel Wold of many locations; sisters, Linda Driscoll of Washington, Dianne (Jim) Hilliard of Minnesota, and Carol (Carl) Satchell of Colorado; brothers, Scott (LaWanda) Wold of Idaho, Roger (Kitty) Wold of Washington, and Robert Wold of Oregon; and two grandchildren Kallen and Kyben, who could always be counted on to brighten up his day He was preceded in death by his parents. A gathering will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests taking a moment to appreciate the world around you, as Kenyon often would.
