VERELAN B. JENSEN IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Verelan Barger Jensen, 85, of Idaho Falls, died May 27, 2007, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born June 4, 1921, at St. Anthony, Idaho to Charles Jensen and Elizabeth Grace Larson Jensen. He attended elementary school in St. Anthony and then moved with his family to Salt Lake City, where he graduated from West High School. During World War II he served as a Sergeant in the United States Army in the South Pacific. On May 14, 1945, he married Donna Farrimond in Tacoma, Washington. Their marriage was solemnized in the ldaho Falls LDS Temple May 21, 1964. He had worked as a ticket agent for Greyhound, bus dispatcher for the Atomic Energy Commission, and as a postal worker and bookkeeper for the United States Post Office. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He was also actively involved with the Boy Scouts Program. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous callings, including dance director, Counselor in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Executive Secretary, home teacher, Bishop's Counselor to two Bishops, Stake Missionary, and as a Family History Missionary. Verelan enjoyed reading, scouting, Dutch oven cooking, target shooting on the desert, and John Wayne movies. He especially loved his family and spending time with them; he will be dearly missed. Survivors include: Wife: Donna Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Chuck (Shirley) Jensen of St. Johns, AZ Daughter: Penny Jensen of West Jordan, UT Son: Clay (Karen) Jensen of Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Deward (Velda) Jensen 8 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at the Idaho Falls LDS Woodruff 3rd Ward, 2055 Coronado, with Bishop Lee Brundage officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Wilford Cemetery with Military Rites performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team. ------------------------------------ Condolences sent online: Sharon CONLIN sdcvkc@msn.com Dear Donna Jensen and family, We were out of town and not aware Verelan had passed away. He was one of the most pleasant people we have ever known. We so enjoyed his wonderful personality and his sense of humor when he worked for us with the Hertz Car Rental job that he so enjoyed for several years.
