Kenneth Melton

Kenneth Ray Melton, Sr., 62, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away May 3, 2011, at Idaho Falls Care & Rehab. He was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Ken was born July 23, 1948, in Dayton, Washington, to William Henry Melton and Sarah Gladys Adams Melton. He grew up in Dayton and graduated from Dayton High School. He married Katherine Bly November 21, 1966, in Dayton, Washington, and they were blessed with two children. They were later divorced. He married Deana Carol Pace November 29, 1974, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they were also blessed with two children. They later divorced. Ken married Connie Jean Shenton October 19, 2001, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He drove a tow truck before moving to Idaho Falls 30 years ago, when he went to work at the INL as an Industrial Mechanic. He was the recipient of numerous safety awards at the INL and was a proud member of the union. Ken attended St. John’s Lutheran Church. He loved golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Ken also enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and was captain of his pool team. Ken is survived by his loving wife, Connie, two sons, Kenneth (Katrina) Melton Jr. of Dayton, WA, Kevin (Stacy) Melton of Shelley, ID; two daughters, Kitsy (Audelino Pulido) Melton of Richland, WA, Karena (Adam) O'Neill of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Travis (Allison) Torres of Idaho Falls, ID; two sisters, Betty (Bert) Smith of Spokane, WA, and Lois (Dave) Hemphill of Dayton, WA; and 18 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Everett Melton and Marvin Melton, and one sister, Elsie Smith. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, with his sister, Betty Smith, officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wood Funeral Home.
