Kenneth Madsen

Kenneth (Punk) Reed Madsen at the age of 74, returned home to his Heavenly Father passing away peacefully in Idaho Falls, Idaho on Wednesday, October 17, 2012. He had been battling Lou Gehrig’s disease the past two years and handled it with perfection. Although he lost his speech as a result of ALS, his attitude and rare ability to make others feel comfortable with humor and a great smile were admirable. Dad had given many talents that he shared with so many. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and put a person at ease. His service to others, especially to the elderly in which he served for over twenty years as a leader in the retirement industry, was legendary. He was a good friendly neighbor. He was a great teacher. His enthusiasm was contagious. He appreciated the friendship of others and had stories that kept those around him amused for hours. He was very competitive in all that he did especially in his love of golf and sharing time with others on the golf course was a favorite pastime. He was born on July 31, 1938, in Rigby, Idaho to Loyal Mathew Madsen and Eileen Ellsworth Madsen. On June 12, 1958, he married June Alice Beck in the Logan LDS Temple in Logan, Utah. He had two sons, Nicholas K. In 1960, and Daniel B. In 1962. He was best friends with both sons throughout his life. He worked in radio and television, managing KTEE for 18 years. He was General Manager of the Leisure Care Retirement Communities – Lincoln Court and Fairwinds. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed golfing, camping , art, coaching baseball, and supporting his grandchildren in all their activities. Dad always had a saying he used often, “You never know what’s around the corner. You need to get there to see.” Survivors are: Son: Nicholas K. (Louise) Madsen, Farmington, UT Son: Daniel B. Madsen, Seattle, WA Sister: Margaret Madsen Hodges, Rigby, ID 9 grandchildren: Erica, Allie, Sydnee, Rachel, Carter, McKenzie, Davis, Devin, Josh and 1 great grandchild: Khloe Golas He and June were later divorced.
