KENNETH V. CARTER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Kenneth Vern Carter, 84, of Idaho Falls, died October 4, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center following a long term illness. He was born September 4, 1924, in Burley, Idaho, to Vern Carter and Elizabeth Livingston Carter. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1947. He attended Notre Dame as an Ensign in the U. S. Navy. He also attended New Mexico, Preshipman School and the University of Idaho. He passed the CPA exam the first time. He served as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during World War II. After graduation he established his own business in Burley. He moved to Pocatello, where he worked as a C.P.A. and later established Ken V. Carter & Co. with his brother Ray. He moved to American Falls, where he established their second office. He married Roberta Culley. They were later divorced. He married Deanna Jean Gneiting on November 28, 1985 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in American Falls. He moved to Idaho Falls in 2004 and retired in 2007 after 59 years. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several leadership callings. He was a member of the Lion's Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf, hiking, baseball, traveling, and basketball. Survivors include: Wife: Deanna Gneiting Carter, Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Patty Erickson, Warden, WA Daughter: Peggy Wiedenheft, Eugene, OR Daughter: Colleen McKinnon , Laramie, WY Stepdaughter: Anna Christensen, Idaho Falls, ID Stepson: Dirk Edwards, Melba, ID Brother: Ray Carter, Pocatello, ID Sister: Nadine Kekauoha, Laie, HI 9 Grandchildren & 5 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Idaho Falls LDS Thayerwood Ward, 5255 South 5th West, with Bishop Richard Dyer officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Grant-Central Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard. --------------------------------------------- Condolences received online : Jaimee Macanas Neel I am the oldest grandchild of Uncle's Ken's sister, Nadine Kekauoha. Uncle Ken was a kind, sweet man - who suprised me by driving down from Idaho to Utah for my mission farewell. He was extremely thoughtful and will always be remembered.
