Kenas William Akers

Kenas William Akers, 71, of Saint Anthony, passed away July 1, 2025, at his home. He was under the care of CNS Cares Hospice.

Kenas was born February 27, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, to Kenas Akers Sr. and Barbara Jorgensen Akers. He grew up and attended schools in various places as he traveled with his family in the military. After settling in Pocatello, Idaho, he graduated from Highland High School in 1972. Following graduation, Kenas served in the United States Air Force where he was a crew chief working on jet engines while stationed in California.

On May 16, 1979, he married Rose LaRay Sykes in Pocatello, Idaho. While employed at the Simplot Gay Mine as a heavy equipment mechanic, the INL as an iron worker journeyman, and a safety inspector, Kenas and Rose made their home in Pocatello and later relocated to the Tyhee area before their final move to St. Anthony, Idaho. During their journey together, Kenas and Rose experienced the joy of raising two wonderful daughters, Hillary and Rita. Kenas, Rose and the girls enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, rock hunting, riding Kenas’ Harley, and many outdoor activities together with close family. Outside of the many adventures with family, one of Kenas’ true pleasures was fishing in Orofino catching the big ones with his friends.

Becoming one of Jehovahs Witnesses was something that Kenas was naturally drawn to, as it allowed him to demonstrate his love of people and his hope for a future filled with peace and joy.

Kenas is survived by his wife, Rose Akers of Saint Anthony, ID; his daughters, Hillary LaSarte of Bend, Oregon, and Rita Akers of Saint Anthony; his brothers, Tolbert Akers of Coos Bay, Oregon, and Kenneth Akers of Chubbuck, Idaho; and his sister, Patricia Kemp of Pocatello, Idaho. Kenas was preceded in death by his parents.

There will not be a memorial service per Kenas' wishes.
