Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Keith D. Walker, was called home June 30, 2015. Keith passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife and best friend, Judy, by his side. Keith was under the care of Encompass Home Health & Hospice.
Keith was born October 15, 1928, in Altera, Utah, to Joseph and Dorothy Walker. Keith and his twin brother were the youngest of four boys. Keith grew up in Roosevelt, Utah, where he graduated from high school. Keith served our country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After his service, Keith attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and received a degree in horology (watch making). He moved to Idaho Falls in 1960 and worked in the jewelry industry, which included owning his own jewelry store, “Walker Jewelry.” Keith was a respected jeweler for over thirty years. After retirement from jewelry, Keith worked at West Side Elementary School as the “all time favorite head custodian.” All the employees, parents, and students loved Keith and hated seeing him leave.
Keith married Gay Dawn Parmer in 1962 and they had three sons. Dawn passed away in 1969. Shorter afterwards, Keith met and married the love of his life, Judy Gayle Walker. Judy had one daughter and one son. A family of seven was created that day. Keith and Judy raised this family together. They were a very active family, with Keith being involved in all the activities the children were in, such as archery, soccer, boating, and waterskiing, just to mention a few.
Keith and Judy lived for their children and grandchildren; family meant the world to them. Every chance they were given they wanted to be part of their children’s and grandkids lives, creating beautiful memories for each and every one of them. Later in their marriage Keith and Judy bought property in Irwin, Idaho, where Keith was once quoted as saying “this is heaven on earth.” It was such a joy for them to take their kids and grandkids there. Keith was also a member of the Snake River Boat Club, where he loved to be as well. It was always easy for Keith to make friends, everyone who was blessed to have known him knew he was a friend forever. He was a man of love and honesty.
In October, 2007, Keith became ill with Lewy body dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. Through this very difficult time Keith never gave up. Judy was a devoted wife and friend to Keith and blessed him with seven more wonderful years of love after his diagnosis. Keith and Judy shared 46 years of marriage together. There was never a day that they didn’t tell each other they loved each other.
Keith is survived by his loving wife, Judy Walker of Ammon, ID; a daughter, Patricia G. (Dave) Johnson of Kennewick, WA, three sons, David W. (Stacey) Roberts of Idaho Falls, ID; Mike K. (Rania) Walker of Phoenix, AZ, and Todd K (Windy) Walker of Boise, ID; three brothers, Bob Walker of Kaysville, UT; Lynn Walker of Ogden, UT; and Kenneth Walker of Ivins, UT; 12 grandchildren, Ginny, Anna, Joseph, Sairy, Joshua, Jessica, Nichole, Mitchel, Eleftheria, Blake, Mathew, and Paige, and six great grandchildren, Issac, Addison, Ellie, Preslee, Connor, and Zack. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Dorothy Griffis Walker, and one son, Kris D. Walker.
As a family, we would like to thank Life Care and OneSource Hospice for their loving care of Keith. Special thanks, also, to Rita Crane of Home Helpers – thank you for your friendship and love.
