Kay Rose

Kay R. Rose was born September 6, 1921 in Goodland, Kansas to Victor H. Roussin and Mary Speakman Roussin. She graduated from high school and then worked in offices until she went to work at an Army hospital in Denver, Colorado. She met her future husband, Jack Armstrong Rose there. They were sent by the Army to post-war Germany where Jack worked as a attorney helping the post war reconstruction. Two boys were born to them, Jim and then Mike. Kay's husband died in 1962 and Kay was left with the two boys to support. She eventually moved to Idaho Falls and worked for a site contractor Aero Jet as a secretary. When she retired, Kay volunteered to be the church secretary for a new start up church in Idaho Falls, Christ Community Church. After a number of years, Kay was put on salary and worked for George Marriott, the first pastor of Christ Community, Richard Spencer and then Dave Gibson for 12 years. Kay loved flower gardening and many people in Idaho Falls were brightened by her little brown house and her beautiful flowers. A woman of many talents, Kay remodeled her little house herself, added a porch and generally made a snug home for she and her son, Mike. She was also one of the first members of Common Cause in Idaho. Pastor Dave Gibson used her extensively to edit his writing. Kay will be missed greatly by the many individuals she touched through her service at Christ Community and by creating beauty for others through her flowers. Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Christ Community Church, 5742 South 5th West. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave.
