The angels in heaven were rejoicing when one of their own, our brother, Kay Cooper, returned to his Heavenly Father Tuesday, April 1st, 2014. He fought a valiant 12 year struggle with Parkinsons. Joining the celebration were Kay's Mom and Dad.
Kay was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on September 8, 1944 to Beth Burtenshaw Cooper and Roy Lamon Cooper. He was their special, celestial son. With the rest of his family, he learned to work hard at an early age on the family farm. He attended Iona schools and graduated from Bonneville High School. He loved to play church basketball. He served an LDS work mission to the Portland, Oregon Mission where he helped to build a chapel in Cathlamet, Washington. He worked on the farm, at the Joshua Smith Foundation and at the Provo Deseret Industries. Sixteen years ago he went to live in Provo with his sister and brother-in-law, Mark and Roylene Lunt.
Kay loved BYU, McDonalds and Christmas. He still believed in Santa Clause. He had a "million dollar" smile and brought much joy to his family. He was a very devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an Elder and helped to give many priesthood blessings. Whenever he met someone new, he would be sure to tell them, "I'm a Mormon." He loved and poured over the Book of Mormon. What a great missionary he is now. Until we meet again! We love you, Kay.
He is survived by his caregivers, Roylene and Mark Lunt and their children, Dustin (Brittanie) Lunt, Natalie (Brian) Tooley, Jake (Kayla) Lunt, and Cameron Lunt; siblings Judy (Harlow) McNamara, Van (Janice) Cooper, Rob (Kathy) Cooper, Tim (Gina) Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Harmony Healthcare for their kind and loving care of Kay.
