Kathryn Mary Snarr Fontes, 70, of Idaho Falls, passed away at Eastern Idaho Medical Center with family members by her side.
Kathy was born on November 1, 1949, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Abner Wylie Snarr and Virginia Kathryn Croft Snarr. She grew up in Osgood and attended New Sweden School and Skyline High School. On October 4, 1968, Kathy married Ted Dennis in Idaho Falls. They later divorced. To this union, they had two beautiful daughters. Tracy JoLeene was born on April 20, 1970, and Kathryn Virginia (Katie) on August 11, 1972. Kathy married the love of her life, Donald J. Fontes, on July 23, 1976. Don adopted Tracy and Katie, and took them in as his own. On April 8, 1977, they had another daughter, Jessica Elizabeth. On April 11, 1980, they had their first son, Derrick Donald, and Dustin Joseph was born on July 14, 1982. Kathy was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, and truly valued time with family. Kathy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When she and Don met, he was not a member of the LDS church, but over time they both felt prompted to learn more about the gospel together. Don accepted the gospel and he was later baptized. Kathy and Don were sealed for time and all eternity on July 27, 1990. Kathy was a faithful member of the church and served her church in many different callings. She was a Primary teacher, youth leader, cub scout leader, visiting teacher, and assisted in the Relief Society. Kathy was also a devoted daughter. She took care of her both her parents as their health declined and loved them very much. She was always by their side when they needed her. She also loved her brothers and her sister. She always enjoyed spending time with them. When her sister, Faye, and her would get together they were the “life of the party,” making those around them laugh with their jokes and comments. They both loved to laugh. She had many hobbies and passions but mostly she loved being a wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She loved baking, planting flowers, going for drives, attending church, laughing and visiting. She loved every single holiday and always had her home decorated for the season. She loved everyone and always wanted people to feel welcome.
