KATHRYN MILLER IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Kathryn Key Miller, Born June 18, 1966 in Columbus, Georgia died March 17, 2009 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She graduated from Brookstone School and attended Southern Methodist University, graduating from the University of Georgia. She was a resident of Victor, Idaho. After graduation Kathyrn began her career as an outdoor educator and climbing guide with the National Outdoor Leadership School in Lander, Wyoming. She volunteered for Teton County, Wyoming Search and Rescue, Ski patrolled for Grand Targhee Resort and guided Denali for Alaska Mountaineering School. She was a former partner of Jackson Hole Mountain Guides and continued to guide for them. In 1999 Kathryn summitted Cho Oyu, altitude 26,904 feet, with two teammates and they became the first American Women's team to summit an 8000 meter peak without supplemental oxygen or Sherpa climbing support. At the time of her death she served as a Ski Patroller at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. She is survived by her parents Dr. and Mrs. Fred Miller, brother, Rick Miller (wife, Rhonda), nephew, Derick Miller, niece, Campbell Miller of Gate City, VA., sister, Laura Miller (husband, Virgil Pedersen) of Columbia Falls, Montana, uncle, J.C. Key (Yvonne) of Cumming, GA., aunt, Betty Key Blackwell (John) of Watkinsville, GA, and many cousins. There will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Trinity Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers and in support of her devotion to wilderness education and conservation, contributions may go to the National Outdoor Leadership School, Lander, Wyoming, the Nature Conservancy, or a charity of your choice. ---------------------------------------------------- Condolences received online: Charlton Hudson I am so very sorry to here of your loss.
