Kathryn Francis Brainard

Kathryn Francis Brainard, 77, of Idaho Falls, passed away December 14, 2025, at Fairwinds-Sandcreek Retirement Community.

Kathy was born September 29, 1948, in Bar Harbor, Maine, to Ronald Douglas Burgess and Thelma Edna Campbell Burgess. She grew up and attended schools in Groton, Connecticut, and graduated from Montville High School. She also attended the University of Connecticut where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Childhood Development and Family Relations.

On January 30, 1971, she married Raymond Frederick Brainard in Montville, Connecticut. They made their home in Pocatello, Idaho, where Kathy worked as a realtor for Realty World.

She was a member of Pocatello Newcomers Club, Stitchery Group, and Bible Study. She enjoyed being a grandma, traveling, reading, baking, Bingo, yard sales, Christmas, and especially spending time with family.

Kathy is survived by her sons, Douglas (Katrina) Brainard of Idaho Falls and Craig (Rebecca) Brainard of Pocatello, ID; sister, Joanne (Arlene Firtion) Burgess of Enfield, CT; brother, Barry (Kim Knudsen) Burgess of Mount Vernon, WA; 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Thelma Burgess; husband, Raymond Brainard; and sister, Susan Monty.

Services are being held from 2-4 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Fairwinds-Sandcreek Retirement Community, 3310 Valencia Drive, in Idaho Falls.
