KATHLEEN MORRIS
SHELLEY, ID -- Kathleen Phillips Morris, 75, of Shelley, died December 20, 2002, at her home.
She was born December 13, 1927, in Idaho Falls, to John Dee Phillips and Lovinia Minnie Andrus Phillips. She attended school in Ucon, graduating from Ucon High School. She also attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University, graduating in 1949.
When she returned to BYU for graduate studies, she became reacquainted with Herbert Newel Morris, a classmate from Ricks who was there working on a Masters Degree. They were married December 29, 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They lived in Blackfoot and Shelley. She taught Secondary English, Drama, Speech and P.E. until her children came. After that she taught on a substitute basis. She also taught softball to Primary children in Ucon. She worked for several years in the Shelley Public Library.
As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught Sunday School classes, was Drama Director, Primary chorister, Ward Librarian, and taught Relief Society.
She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, cooking, played the violin & piano, and sang in choirs and small groups. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially loved being with her grandchildren; Frederick, Amy, and Kristi Boldman, Calista Stam and her one great granddaughter, Evelyn Ruth Stam.
Surviving are:Husband: Newell Morris, Shelley, IDDaughter: Diana (Cameron) Boldman, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Nola (Ronald) Stam, Kearns, UTDaughter: Patricia Morris, Shelley, IDDaughter: Dorothy Morris, Shelley, IDDaughter: Norma Jean Morris, Shelley, ID 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great GrandchildShe was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters, and two infant sons.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 26, 2002, at the Shelley LDS 8th Ward, (184 North Park, Shelley). The family will meet with friends from 11:00 a.m. to 12: 50 p.m. at the church.
Burial will be in Ucon Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
