Kathleen Harvey

Kathleen Rae Adamson Harvey, 80, formerly of Midvale, Utah, passed away January 27, 2013, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, surrounded by her family. She was born October 26, 1932, in Pleasant Grove, Utah, the oldest of two children born to David Allen Adamson and Nellie Rae Cummings Adamson. She grew up and attended schools in Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Heber City, Utah. She graduated from Wasatch High School, where she was active in debate, student government and FHA. She later graduated with a B.S. in Business from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She married John Lael Harvey on August 31, 1953, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple, and they were blessed with two children, Susan and Mark. She was a loving mother, who dedicated her life to serving her family, especially her physically challenged son, Mark. She was a devoted wife and homemaker, supporting her husband in career moves and church callings in Chinook, Montana, Pinedale, Wyoming, and Midvale, Utah. She worked as a librarian at Midvale Middle School. Ten years ago she moved to Idaho Falls to be near her daughter and granddaughters. Kathleen enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating with her family. She loved to go for rides and to travel and explore new places and spent 17 winters in Yuma, Arizona. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crafts, genealogy, and beautiful things. As her sight dimmed, she continued cooking, gardening, and serving others. Kathleen was a “doer.” She always had a new project and never, ever gave up. Her greatest joy in life was serving and blessing the lives of others, especially her daughter, Susan, and granddaughters, Kelli and Brooke. She made many close, lasting friendships wherever she lived. Kathleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had an abiding testimony of the Savior and faithfully served in many callings including Young Women, and stake and ward Relief Society presidencies. She was a life-long visiting teacher, and served with her husband as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Her life was devoted to her family and to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Susan (Doug) Nelson, and granddaughters, Kelli and Brooke Nelson, all of Idaho Falls, ID; Brother, David C. (Mary Jo) Adamson of Roosevelt, UT.
