Kathleen Edith Schmitt, 66, passed away in the early morning of July 4, 2020, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Kathleen was born on January 19, 1954, in Seattle, Washington, to Martin Claire "Derk" Derksema and Lois Cleo Derksema (McMullen). She grew up in Seattle, where she also gave birth to her daughter and twin sons, before moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho. Kathleen attended Ballard High School in Seattle, and attended cosmetology school in Idaho Falls with her mother, and also worked as a secretary for the Department of Health and Welfare for over 11 years.
She was skilled at needlepointing, knitting, and crocheting. In her youth, she travelled overseas to places like the Netherlands to visit relatives, as well as Mexico and Italy on family vacations. Kathleen was also on a bowling league with her mother.
Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Shawna Jarvis (Hall) of Rigby, ID; son, Douglas Kick of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Martin Kick of Little Rock, AR; brothers, Martin Derksema and John Derksema, both of Washington; and 8 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Derksema.
A private service will be held by the family at a later date.
