Kathey Schwantes, 75, of Ammon passed away April 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Kathey was born October 5th, 1947, in Long Beach, California, to Duane Keith Sams and Betty Lou Sams. She grew up in Southern California enjoying the sun and beach for many years of her life.
On December 31, 2021, she married William C Schwantes in Salt Lake City, Utah. Kathey and Bill made themselves a comfortable and loving home in Ammon, Idaho.
Kathey was a child of God and dedicated her life to the study, research, and teachings of the Bible. She had a passion that led her to share the love of God to those who needed or wanted to learn. Most recently, Kathey was a member of the Salt Lake City Messianic Judaism congregation.
Kathey is survived by her loving husband Bill Schwantes; daughters, Samantha Lynn Claydon (Rachelle), Michelle "Missy" Kaye Nance (spouse Christy); son, John "Jay" Harold Claydon (spouse Shayla), 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and countless family and friends too numerous to name yet were extremely important and precious to Kathey.
She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Keith Sams; mother, Betty Lou Brown; and brother, Marty Sams.
Please join the family at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, on Friday, April 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. for a time of visiting and remembrance prior to the 2:00 p.m. service. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
