Kathee Scott

Kathee Jayne Scott, 58, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 19th, 2018 at the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City due to a severe brain aneurysm. Kathee was born March 16, 1960 in Council, Idaho, a daughter to the late Cleo Elva Smith (Larson). Kathee and her family moved to Rigby shortly after her birth and she resided there her entire life. She attended and graduated with honors from Rigby High School in 1978. Shortly after, in the summer of '78, she married the love of her life, Kirk. Two years later, their daughter Hilerie Anne was born. The following year, their son Zachary Kirk joined the family. Kathee was well known and immensely loved in Rigby. She served her community in so many ways, with various church positions and as a Cub Scout Den Mother. As a young woman, she worked as a waitress at Country Diner and eventually joined the family business at Scotty's True Value & Auto, where she managed the office and constantly interacted with customers. She was known for her bright smile and limitless kindness, generosity and love. She loved and accepted everyone unconditionally. She was a light in our lives and warmed every heart she touched. Kathee had an uncanny ability to make people smile and to comfort them in times of trouble. She was the embodiment of pure love. Mom loved people and never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed the outdoors, crafts, games and was an avid reader. She loved animals, especially her grandpuppies and grandkitties. Kathee is survived by a large and loving family, including her husband of 40 years, Kirk Scott of Rigby, daughter Hilerie Harris (Shon) of Salt Lake City, son Zachary Scott (Eric Avalos) of Rigby, Tasha Klinefelter, Zac Chadwick, grandson Austin Avalos Klinefelter, sister Sheryl Baird, brothers Kevin Duncan, David Duncan (Sandi), Shauna Rippetoe (Roy), many beloved nieces and nephews and countless extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother Cleo and her brother Dukey. To honor her memory and in lieu of flowers, the family asks everyone who cared for Kathee to do a random act of love, kindness or service to someone in need. Friends can also make monetary donations in Kathee's memory to "The Giving Cupboard". Donations will be accepted at the celebration.
