Mary Catherine "Kate" Madsen Zabriskie, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 14, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Kate was born March 21, 1932, in Fillmore, Utah, to Tennys Reddick Madsen and Chloe Nichols Madsen. She grew up and attended schools in Ephraim, Utah, and graduated from Manti High School. She also attended technical school in Orem, Utah.
On May 25, 1950, she married Morris Darwin Zabriskie. To this union were born three children, Gary, Cheryl, and Scott. They were later divorced. Morris passed away April 15, 2007. Kate made her home in Idaho Falls for the past 21 years. She worked for the Forest Service. She also lived in Round Rock, Texas, and Ireland.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in several callings including as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She enjoyed gardening, crochet, quilting, crafts, and cooking.
Kate is survived by her
son, Scott McKay (Carolyn) Zabriskie of Idaho Falls;
son, Gary Keith Zabriskie of Highland, UT;
daughter, Cheryl (Alan Bruce) Cottam of Santaquin, UT;
brother, Evert (Leone) Madsen of Inkom, ID;
brother, John (Linda) Madsen Vernal, UT;
sister, Neva (Morrell) Jamison of North Ogden, UT.
10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and ex-husband, Morris Darwin Zabriskie, and two brothers, Jess Madsen and Tom Madsen.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the Idaho Falls LDS Township Ward, 5255 South 5th West, with Bishop Todd Harris officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the Fillmore, Utah, Cemetery.
