Karin (Lindberg) Fry

Karin Fry, 86, of Idaho Falls, passed away July 7, 2025, at her home. She was under the care of her loving granddaughters, Kym and Nikole and Hospice of Eastern Idaho.

Karin was born June 4, 1939, in Gothenburg, Sweden. Growing up she was involved in theater and music and eventually studied psychology at the University of Sweden. Realizing her father's dream (the American Dream), she came to America at the age of 22 with her three-year old son, Pierre. A short time later she married Wayne Fry and in that marriage she was blessed with three step-children, Allen, Robbie and Randy. Together, they welcomed their daughter, LaRena. Karin and Wayne were later divorced.

Karin was industrious as reflected by her many accomplishments. She owned and operated with her young family a Scandinavian restaurant in Ririe. Karin enjoyed a successful real estate career as a broker exceeding 45 years including owning Skandia Properties of America. She was involved in land development in the greater Idaho Falls area. She enjoyed being a member of the Better Business Bureau for several years.

Karin experienced many trials always maintaining her faith in God. She cherished her family and strived to be a friend to all. She was especially helpful and close to her son, Pierre and his daughters, Kym and Nikole. After Pierre passed, she continued to enjoy being involved in Kym and Nikole's growing families. Karin maintained a close relationship with Randy and Robbie until their passing. Karin traveled back to Sweden shortly before her 80th birthday visiting her brother, many nieces and nephews and friends. The following year to celebrate her 80th birthday, she generously paid for her family members to travel from Sweden to her home in Rigby, where she hosted a week-long family reunion.

Karin was proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed celebrating the food and traditions. She was also a proud American citizen. She and Pierre studied and became American citizens together.

Karin was a member of Hope Lutheran Church.

Karin is survived by her granddaughters, Kym (Ty) Hendricks (Grayson, Preslee and Krew) and Nikole (Jason) Kirby (Hudson and Lucy); her daughter, LaRena (Mark) Vorderbruggen (Brandy, Eddy and Hunter, and Dillon) of Sparks, NV; and her brother, Bo Ort of Sweden.

Karin was preceded in death by her son, Pierre Savkranz; step-son, Randy Fry; step-son, Robbie Fry; her husband, Bertil Savkranz; and her siblings, Karl Erik, Rune, Siw, Evy and Lillan.

We would like to thank the family and friends and Hospice of Eastern Idaho for helping during Karin's final days.
